I loved getting a brand new box of crayons. Lined up with their perfectly chiseled tips, they were irresistible. Those rainbow’d soldiers, standing at attention, remain untouched somewhere in the folds of my memory.

The pages I colored, when life was young, needed only a blue for the sky, a few shades of green for the hills, some yellow and pink for flowers and white for the puffy clouds.

When the highways of Zurich disappeared in our rear-view mirror, the pages in my coloring books popped right out before us.
