Rome and Zurich…worlds apart

The energy of Rome still rings in our ears, with its gatherings of the outspoken, its traffic that creates its own rules, and its night life that blends into morning. We are finding ourselves trying to adjust to the pace that is Zurich.

It’s 11PM, and 500 miles away, Romans are just sitting down to look at menus. While here in Zurich the streets have been quiet for hours.

Italian taxi drivers are aggressive and impatient. Here in Switzerland, while waiting for their next passengers, taxi drivers can be spotted deciding on their next move in a game of chess.

Alleys and plazas in Rome become stages for spontaneous performances of every kind. Here in Zurich, the streets and water-ways are obedient as they pose for photographers. .

“Your letters freeze time for us, eternalizing shared experiences so we can go back ands draw strength from them. Letters are like deposits in a secret bank that can be withdrawn when they are needed. And as we look back in love, we appreciate a new the thought and time that was taken to express those feelings.”

This describes your writing to me.

    • Suzy, you brought us to a higher level of appreciation and awareness within the Vatican and Sistine Chapel, and Paola provided endless insights as we toured the Coliseum, the Catacombs of Priscilla and more. You both made Rome come alive and set the tone for our wonderful week.
