Took a flight over the Arctic Circle and landed in Coldwater, drove to Wiseman. The North Pole is just 1400 miles past the Arctic Circle.
We did not make it to the North Pole, but found one of Santa’s elves, getting supplies in Coldwater.
Our accommodations in Denali had a great view from the porch…
…but not much to see once inside. We have stayed, so far, in 8 places for 2-3 days each. In two days, we can get comfy for 7 nights aboard a cruise ship.
An 8 hour bus trip through Denali National Park allowed us to admire the landscape and to observe bear, moose and caribou in the wild…up close! Below is Joel, looking for a wolf, which never was spotted.
White water rafting on the Nenana River was an exciting way to bring our 14 day
Alaska-our-way part of the trip to as close.
Feeling adventurous each day in such an unspoiled, huge territory has been truly exhilarating.
Love,
J and J
